Charmian Kennealy , MAA Member since 1995 2008-2012 MAA TE Work: "Beach Bush II", 6.35 x 5.08 centimeters, 2½ x 2 inches Medium: Watercolor on board Biography: Charmian Kennealy was born in Port Elizabeth, South Africa on 15th February, 1926. After graduating high school she trained for four years at the Port Elizabeth College of Art, gaining many awards, both college and municipal. On receiving the National Art Teachers Diploma, Charmian had many years of teaching in South Africa and in England. Charmian married and raised three children and had many commercial art commissions during that time. After thirteen more years of school teaching, she resigned in order to paint full time. She gained Associateship of the Watercolour Society of South Africa and started painting in miniature while living in Tulsa, OK and, subsequently, North Bay, Ontario, Canada. Many awards were achieved over the next years, and in 1995, she was honored with Signature Membership in the Miniature Artists of America. Back in South Africa, she founded the Miniature Art Society of South Africa in 1992. Though now limited in sight by macular degeneration, Charmian is still painting and very active in MASSA.
